Lessons from Africa 11: How to Build a Tip-Tap for the Garden

About This Primary Resource

A Tip-Tap is a very simple but ground-breaking invention that is used all over Africa to encourage people to keep their hands clean and prevent the spread of disease. They can be built in a variety of different ways, but basically act as a very rudimentary tap, with the water stored in a large contained suspended from the ground. This resource contains a colourful step-by-step guide of how to make a Tip-Tap and a Powerpoint presentation of how they are used in Africa. There is also a separate document that gives a variety of lesson plan ideas, perfect for those interested in the Forest School approach.
