Craft Project: Cereal Box Theatre
I found this craft project in an old art book, and since we have a considerable collection of printable stick puppets that could benefit from a stage, I thought I would share it with you.
Materials
– Cereal box
– Brightly coloured paper
– Glue stick
– Ruler
– Sellotape
– Scissors
Instructions
1. Mark 3 points about 3cm from the top of the box and from either side. Use a ruler to join up the points to form a rectangle and cut it out.
2. Cut another rectangle about the same size on the other side of the box at the bottom, this is so you can stick your hand inside to move the puppets.
3. Cut strips of paper about 4cm wide and using the glue stick, paste them onto the box in an alternating pattern. I have chosen to use quite a traditional ‘Punch and Judy’ type design, but you can make it as colourful and exciting as you like.
We have a large collection of stick puppets here at Early Learning HQ that could use in your new theatre. Below are some of my favourites.
