Superhero Initial Sounds Phonics Game
About This Primary Resource
A superhero themed game designed to help children link sounds and letters.
Each player is given a superhero grid, featuring a picture of a superhero and a space for three food cards. Add the name of the superheroes to each grid. Players must then collect the food cards that begin with the same sound as the initial letter of the superhero featured on their grid. Alternatively you could play the game with real food.
- How to play
Lay the food cards out face up and encourage the children to take turns to find their items one at a
time.
Tip the cards back onto the table and mix them face down.
Children take turns to chose a card - if it's not theirs they return it to the table. The game continues
until everyone fills their grid. The first player to finish wins.
