Food Group Sorting Game: ‘All About 6’
About This Primary Resource
A fun and engaging game designed to help familiarise children with different food items and food groups as well as build an awareness of the different ways that the number 6 can be formulated. The aim of the game is to collect 6 cards from the food group shown on their board by taking turns to spin the spinner. To complete their board they must spin a combination of numbers that totals exactly 6. Suggested question to ask when playing the game: "You have x number of cards - how many more do you need to make 6?"
This game can be adapted to suit a variety of learning intentions and different ages and stages. It can be played without the boards as a simple snap or pairs game to teach the youngest children vocabulary and early counting skills.
We also have versions on our site where the objective is to collect either 8 or 10 cards.
