Craft Project: Pop-Up Card
This craft project is very simple, but the method can be used to create some very impressive results. Whether you’re wishing someone happy birthday or celebrating a new baby in the family, making a 3D card is a great way to show that you care! Why not try cutting out an image of a pop star or cartoon character and make a speech bubble for your message, so your favourite celebrity can say the words for you.
1. Work on the pop-up design. The final design shouldn’t be any bigger than 11cm across and 9cm high. Cut out letters from paper or old magazines and stick them onto a rectangle of coloured card. You can also use images cut out of newspaper or printed off the computer – just stick them onto card before you cut them out. Alternately, you could just write a message onto a piece of card.
2. Fold the card in half and find the centre of the folded edge. Draw a line either side of the centre at right angles to the edge. The lines should be about 2cm long and about 2-3cm apart.
3. With the card still folded, cut along the lines. Push the card between the lines to make the pop-up box.
4. Stick your pop-up design to one side of the pop-up box.
