Domino Maths Worksheets Doubling numbers 2-20
About This Primary Resource
This is a two page worksheet that will help children to develop the skill of doubling numbers from 2 to 20. Each sum shows a pair of dominoes both with the same number of dots but in a different configuration. Children must calculate the answer for each of the sums by counting the number of dots in each domino. With practice children may learn to count the dots on one of the dominoes and double this to get the answer without having to count all dots.
There are a few different way that you could use this resource in addition to simply printing out and giving to children as an independent maths activity. For instance, you could cut out each of the dominoes individually and cut the + and = symbols in long strips. Then arrange on a table and get the children to find dominoes that have the same number of dots and place either side of the + strip to reconstruct the doubling sums.
You could also encourage the children to write the totals for each side of the domino on the sheet before adding up to get the final total. They could also draw over each of the dots if this helps with the process of counting. It may be a good idea to laminate the paper or put it inside a plastic pocket or wallet so that it can be reused.
